Conference: Beyond Broadcast 2008

by Scott on May 19, 2008

The Center for Social Media is hosting Beyond Broadcast 2008, on June 17, 2008 in Washington DC.

Each year, Beyond Broadcast explores the evolution of participatory digital public media. This year’s theme is Mapping Public Media: How are media makers using online mapping and visualization tools to tell stories and engage communities? What can those same tools tell us about changes in the public media landscape?

Russ Roberts Talks with Chris Anderson

by Scott on May 14, 2008

Chris Anderson, author of The Long Tail, discusses “free”:

Chris Anderson talks with EconTalk host Russ Roberts about his next book project based on the idea that many delightful things in the world are increasingly free–internet-based email with infinite storage, on-line encyclopedias and even podcasts, to name just a few. Why is this trend happening? Is it restricted to the internet? Is there really any such thing as a free lunch? Is free a penny cheaper than a penny or a lot cheaper than that? The conversation also covers whether economics has anything to say about free.

by Scott on May 12, 2008

I’ve been meaning to update my feed list. Trimmed a few, added a few. Could probably still use a little more trimming. Also compiled a podcast list for your audio/visual pleasure.
